Matt Ritchie admits he's been inspired by Portsmouth teammate Marc Wilson's success in recent weeks.
Defender Ritchie is staying on-loan with Dagenham & Redbridge for the remainder of the season, but told The News: "I've heard Marc has done well and it's great to see. I've played in the reserves with him a few times and he has always been one of the better players.
"He can play anywhere and is good on the ball. As a young player myself, it definitely gives you a bit of hope. Tony Adams is the manager now and maybe that will open the door for other young players. Seeing him there makes you think you can follow in Marc's footsteps.
"It seems they are bringing youth into the side now and I'd love to be the next one to come through. Harry built such a strong squad, but that squad has now thinned out a bit and they need their youth. It really gives us young lads confidence."
Meanwhile, Ritchie is hoping his impressive Daggers' form can earn him a fresh Pompey deal.
The youngster penned his first professional contract last summer, but that is due to expire at the end of the current season.
He added: "I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully something can happen. I'd love to stay."
