Riordan strike seals Hibernian win over Hamilton

Hibernian substitute Derek Riordan claimed the only goal within a minute of replacing Steven Fletcher late in the first half. The striker is in his second spell at Easter Road and boss Mixu Paatelainen was quick to praise the goalscorer.

"It was a fantastic contribution today - he scored the goal that gave us three points," the Hibs chief said.

"He's a top-class finisher, he's a goalscorer, and whether in training or in matches on a Saturday, he always looks to shoot and score goals wherever he is on the pitch.

"Today, he showed fantastic skill and he is talented when he strikes a ball.

"Last week, he worked very, very hard and thankfully now the groin problem is over so he is able to work hard.

"He went on earlier than I anticipated but thankfully he did. It takes time. He will take part in matches, so he can't work too hard towards the end of the week.

"But he knows that, he agrees with that, and there is no problem at all.

"It was a fantastic result, we got three points and that's what it's all about."
