Former Arsenal boss Bruce Rioch is impressed by the work of Paul Lambert at Aston Villa.

Rioch is also a former Villa midfielder and feels Lambert has come through the worst.

He told the Express & Star: "I have always liked him, not because he's a fellow Scotsman, but the calmness which comes across, the continuity in his thought process.

"He has had a difficult time with a young squad and had pressure to play Darren Bent, but he has come through brilliantly. He has answered all the questions."
