Rijkaard chose to hook Lionel Messi for Thierry Henry in the second-half of Barca's 0-0 draw at Racing Santander, much to the anger of away fans. The Dutchman's decision was seen as the most diplomatic he could make as he ducked confrontations with senior pair Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o.
However, the majority of Barca fans were furious with the decision and El Mundo Deportivo says they have since made their feelings known to local media and websites.
Indeed, Racing defender Farran Oriol declared that Rijkaard's decision helped the hosts: "For me, it was clear the most dangerous player was Messi. Particularly in the first-half when he came off the wing regularly with his diagonal runs."
