Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters admits he was surprised by the reaction to an interview he gave last week in the Dutch press claiming he wanted a loan move away.

"Did I say that? No, I never said such a thing," insisted Rigters. "I am happy to stay here and fight for my chance.

"Regarding my development, we'll see how it goes, but I am not thinking about leaving.

"Manager Mark Hughes has said he has faith in me and I could possibly be in the squad for this weekend's game."
