Albert Riera is battling to stay with Liverpool.

The Daily Mail says winger Riera would like to stay at Liverpool if he could be guaranteed a chance under the new manager, but his criticisms of Liverpool's regime last season were ill-timed and have not gone down well with all associated with the team.

While the focus of his attention was Rafael Benitez, it caused bad publicity at a time when the team needed to stick together and Riera dropped in the estimations of some of his team-mates.
