Karl-Heinz Riedle has heaped praise on Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
The former German striker and the veteran Reds midfielder plying alongside each other during Riedle's Anfield stay from 1997 to 1999.
The 1990 World Cup winner is a big admirer of Gerrard, who is set to join MLS champions LA Galaxy in the summer, and feels that Liverpool's greatest modern moment epitomizes the former England captain.
"In the early days, his tackling was top notch but he improved other aspects such as his range of passing, set pieces and also started scoring goals from open play," Riedle told ESPN FC.
"This is because of his sheer determination to succeed. Liverpool's 2005 Champions League final comeback win against AC Milan typifies Gerrard - a determined fighter who never gave up.
"I am sure he will be an asset for Major League Soccer and for English football in the future."
