Ricky Alvarez is determined to prove himself at Sunderland.
The midfielder is on a season-long loan from Inter Milan.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "No doubt my aim is to do my absolute best this year and it wasn't really the best start for me.
"But there is a lot left, and a lot left this season. What happens at the end of the season, will ultimately happen.
"But my aim now is to do my best and give a good account of myself.
"I'm coming back to my best physical condition and I'm improving in footballing terms too.
"I'm doing everything I can so that when I get out on the pitch, I can do my best."
