Kieran Richardson has urged Fulham owner Shahid Khan to stand by manager Martin Jol.
Despite the pressure Jol is under, Richardson, 28, believes the club needs to stand by him.
He said: "He has great man-management skills and is a good coach. He understands the game - he is top drawer.
"Martin is up there with the best I have known, definitely one of the best managers I have been around.
"He has managed at top clubs. What initially attracted me to Fulham was the manager. Others here have obviously felt the same way about him.
"I have worked with Sir Alex, Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill - managers who have been in the game for a long time.
"Fergie was the best in the history of football, so for me to compare Jol with him is something. But I mean it, Jol is a very good manager."
