Kieran Richardson has joined Seb Larsson in the Sunderland medical room with the pair's seasons now over.
Sweden international Larsson had already been ruled out after having surgery on a hernia and now Richardson has suffered the same fate as confirmed on the club's official Twitter page this afternoon.
Manager Martin O'Neill added: "Kieran's injury came on a bit more suddenly; only in about the last 10 days.
"He has been diagnosed with a similar injury and has had the operation. That means he will miss the rest of the season.""Kieran Richardson has also [alongside Larsson] undergone surgery - his season is over," read the post.
