Kieran Richardson holds no grudge against former Sunderland teammate Asamoah Gyan over his move to Al Ain.
The 26-year-old stunned the Black Cats by asking for the move after they thought they had retained his services after the transfer window closed in August.
Yet the loss of the club's record signing is eased by the £6million world record loan fee.
And Richardson believes the door may be ajar for a sensational return.
"He's only gone on loan so he might come back," he said. "But I wouldn't begrudge him that money. I wouldn't begrudge anyone anything in the game because you are here today and forgotten tomorrow.
