Micah Richards is set to commit to Manchester City by penning a bumper new contract.

Richards, who was reputedly close to leaving the club last season, has provisionally accepted the terms and his advisers expect the deal to be finalised next week, says the Guardian.

The 19-year-old, now an established England international, still has three years to run on his present deal but City have acted quickly in the knowledge that Thaksin Shinawatra has the financial muscle to satisfy a player of his ability.
