Micah Richards is happy to fight for a place in Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini's first team plans.
The England international's forthcoming battle with Pablo Zabaleta for a starting place will be among the intriguing sub-plots of City's first season under their Chilean chief.
Zabaleta starts favourite on the back of his outstanding performances last term and Richards' struggle with injuries.
"Pablo has been here for a while now and he's a good mate of mine," said Richards to the Manchester Evening News.
"I can play centre-back, I can right-back. He can play left-back, he can play right-back, he can play in midfield.
"So, there are going to be games where we're chopping and changing positions. I'm just happy to be back fit now."
