Richards backs Man City kids to make senior breakthrough

Micah Richards is backing several of Manchester City's FA Youth Cup heroes to follow him into the first team.

The England star told City's website: "I think a few of this side will break into our first team, Michael Johnson, Nedum and myself did and there's no reason why some this year's team can't.

"I don't want to name names, because that's a bit unfair, but to play in the Under 18 team here you've got to be good. I just hope it's a good team performance and they can bring some silverware back to the club.

"Players that play in a Youth Cup final tend to go on and do well afterwards, I had played for the reserves and the first team by then, so it was a good season all round. Let's just hope the boys can go out and win it this time."
