Richards admits Man City players looking over shoulders due to spending spree

Manchester City defender Micah Richards admits the arrival of new signings means uncertain times for the existing squad.

Richards is fully aware just how hard he will have to work just to get into his club side.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "It's all gone a bit crazy with the quality of players we've signed. It's helped some people and it's not helped others. But we are all still here.

"We've still got the young lads, such as me, Nedum Onuoha, Joe Hart and Stevie Ireland. I don't count Wrighty [Shaun Wright-Phillips] in that group because he's an old man now!

"The main thing for us to do is not worry about what's going on, and instead to concentrate on our own games.

"We're here because we're good enough to be here. Five years ago, we would all have walked into the team, because it wasn't as good then.

"When you've got world-class players in the team, it's always going to be hard.

"You hear talk about people losing form, but when world-class players are ready to come and take your place, it's hard.

"But we're still young. We're still learning our trade. And we hope that we've got the ability to become world-class players as well."
