The reason why Dele Alli has only 'Dele' on the back of his Tottenham shirt has been revealed.
Alli decided to get Dele on his match shirts due to feeling like had had no connection with the surname.
Alli's mum Denise described in January how she gave her son away aged 13 as she battled an alcohol addiction. She faced having her children removed by Social Services.
Denise told The Sun on Sunday: “I had to let him go to give him a better future.
“Emotionally, it was heartbreaking but it was the right thing to do."
Alli was handed over to a couple, Alan and Sally Hickford, who he is said to call his adoptive parents.
