Juventus striker Simone Zaza rejected an approach from West Ham United on deadline day.
TMW says Hammers boss Slaven Bilic made a direct call to Zaza urging him to move to London on Tuesday.
"Come to us, you will lead the attack and will be my first choice," Bilic told the striker.
However, Zaza resisted the approach, seeing a fresh chance for himself at Juve.
The sales of Fernando Llorente (Sevilla) and Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich) were key to Zaza choosing to turn down the Hammers, despite Bilic's personal intervention.
