Watford failed in an attempt to sign Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer this summer, it has been revealed.
Sport says Alcacer is believed to be surplus to requirements at Barca and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Southampton and Everton, since the turn of the year.
In the end, Watford were the only English side to attempt to secure his signature.
Watford proposed a two-year loan deal with the option to sign him permanently, but the deal eventually broke down.
Barca initially wanted to sell him on a permanent basis but they are now willing to explore other options regarding the striker's future.
