Manchester United manager-in-waiting Louis van Gaal has five top transfer targets he wants to bring to Old Trafford this summer. The Daily Star says he has already gone to work on sounding out new additions.

Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, now of Barcelona, is one of the names he's interested in.

Strengthening the United midfield is key and Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos, 24, is also on Van Gaal's wish-list.

Another German star, Marco Reus, of Borussia Dortmund, is on their agenda.

Reus' £25m-rated team-mate Mats Hummels, a 25-year-old defender, and Roma's Kevin Strootman have interested Van Gaal too.
