Tottenham are the subject of £1 BILLION takeover talks.
The Daily Star says American investment firm Cain Hoy confirmed yesterday they are considering making a huge bid for the Premier League club.
Spurs owner Joe Lewis values Spurs at almost £1bn.
However Cain Hoy are now weighing up their next move after initial talks and have until 5pm on October 10 to decide whether to follow up their interest with a firm offer.
Although Cain Hoy's own valuation of Spurs is unknown, they are understood to be backed by significant funding running into billions of pounds.
The firm is fronted by company founders Todd Boehly, Jonathan Goldstein and Henry Silverman.
Boehly is president of global investment company Guggenheim Capital, who helped fund the launch of Cain Hoy.
He was also part of a consortium that completed a $2.15bn takeover of baseball team LA Dodgers in 2012.
US-based billionaire investor and entrepreneur Silverman, 74, is listed as Cain Hoy's chief executive.
London-based head of European Investments Goldstein, 48, is understood to be a big Spurs fan and season ticket holder.
"They would not have announced the interest in Spurs if they were not serious," one source said.
"They are experienced investors with huge buying potential."
