Fernando Torres was key to Everton's swoop for Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez, it has been revealed.
The former Liverpool ace is set to pen a new one-year contract with Atletico this week.
Sandro had been keen on joining Atletico, despite their transfer ban, but upon hearing that Torres would be staying, the youngster chose to enter talks with Everton.
Meanwhile, Torres will put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming days.
He will share the attacking duties with Antoine Griezmann and Kevin Gameiro as Atletico work on bringing Diego Costa back to Madrid in January from Chelsea.
