REVEALED: Sherwood held Palace talks Sunday

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has held talks with Crystal Palace.

The Telegraph says Sherwood has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Tony Pulis as Crystal Palace manager after impressing Steve Parish, the co-chairman, during an interview on Sunday.

Parish has also spoken to Malky Mackay, the former Cardiff City manager, and is aiming to have an appointment in place by the middle of this week and potentially within the next 48 hours.

Sherwood and Mackay are understood to be the two leading candidates but, after a weekend of talks, there is a sense that Sherwood has moved ahead in the race.

Parish has decided that he will make a quick decision as he wants to work closely with the new manager in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Mackay worked previously with Iain Moody, the Palace sporting director, at Cardiff and it was thought that this link might help persuade Parish that he is the ideal candidate.
