Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was offered to Sevilla last week, it has been revealed.

ABC says just days before the appointment of Pablo Machin as new Sevilla coach, they were offered Wenger by intermediaries.

However, with negotiations having already been settled with the former Girona coach, Sevilla management chose to pass on the chance of hiring the Frenchman. Machin also had the full support of new sports director Joaquin Caparros, so leaving little chance of the board scrapping the appointment.

What is clear now, is Wenger wants to coach after leaving Arsenal at the end of last season.

Just this weekend, Wenger declared he hoped to make a decision over his next move "within 15 days".
