Cristiano Ronaldo disagreed with Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez's attacking plans ahead of their draw at Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
Cadena Cope says Benitez wanted Ronaldo to play as a No9 alongside Jese in attack, with Gareth Bale sitting behind the front pair.
However, Ronaldo refused Benitez's request, insisting he is at his best playing on the left of a front three.
It's claimed Ronaldo's protest had more to do with Bale's elevation this season than any disagreement over formations with Benitez.
Ronaldo feels he is being 'fazed out', with Bale now the focus of Real's attacking structure. Playing an attacking diamond, with Bale as a 'false 9', is seen by many at Real as the Welshman's best position.
Including preseason, Ronaldo has scored just once in six games this month.
