Newcastle United have held a fresh round of transfer talks.

The Evening Chronicle says chief scout Graham Carr travelled to Tyneside earlier this week for a high-level meeting with managing director Lee Charnley and McClaren at St James' Park.

During the discussions, McClaren is believed to have made a convincing presentation on the players he feels will improve his squad in the next two windows.

McClaren wants to bolster all departments across the pitch at Newcastle, but made a specific plea for a winger and centre-back.
