REVEALED: Man Utd, Man City willing to meet £170M Neymar buyout clause

Super agent Wagner Ribeiro has again spoken of Barcelona star Neymar coming close to joining Manchester United.

Neymar was the subject of failed bids from Manchester City and United this summer.

The two Manchester clubs went head-to-head for the Brazilian's signature, with Mundo Deportivo claiming both were willing to meet his £170m buy-out clause.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid were also understood to have been interested before Neymar signed a new five-year contract at the Nou Camp.

However, his agent, Ribeiro, confirmed Neymar was close to leaving.

He told ESPN Brazil: "He was close to joining PSG. He would have earned €40m (£34m) a year net.

"Neymar was also close to a spell at Manchester United, but he extended his contract to earn less at Barcelona because he wanted to stay at Barcelona."
