Manchester United were keen on Christian Eriksen before he penned new terms with Tottenham.

Foot-Sur 7 says United were among a number of clubs who were eyeing the playmaker before he penned a new contract.

His agent, Martin Schoots, has already confirmed a host of European big hitters were chasing his signature.

He said: "There has been definite interest from four Champions League teams from France, Spain, Italy and England.

"Two of them have played in a Champions League final not so long ago.

"One of the managers was Laurent Blanc, who even spoke openly about his interest some time ago."
