De Telegraaf's football chief Valentijn Driessen declared the move would happen on the VI Oranje programme.
"He is going to earn a lot of money. We have to think of an English salary. Or yes, actually not salary. You get a signing bonus of a few million and then an excellent salary. Then you come close to that English situation," assured Driessen.
"Manchester United wants seventeen million euros for a nine-month contract, which is not going to happen yet."
Ajax are now pushing United to drop their current €17.5m asking price.
