Manchester United risk facing a huge test in Champions League qualifying.
Louis van Gaal's side will be seeded for the draw in Nyon on August 7 - but could still face Lazio, Monaco, Sporting Lisbon or CSKA Moscow, report the Manchester Evening News.
They will avoid Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar Donetsk and Ajax thanks to their high UEFA coefficient.
But Monaco, Sporting, CSKA, and Lazio - who booked their place with a 4-2 win over Napoli in their final game of the season on Sunday - are ranked lower and could be paired with United for the two-legged tie at the end of August.
United could also face Brugge, Young Boys, Sparta Prague, Fenerbahce, Rapid Vienna and Panathinaikos.
The first leg of the play-off is scheduled for August 18 or 19 with the second leg staged on August 25 or 26. If United were to lose their play-off, they would go straight into the Europa League group stage.
