Manchester United have not given up on keeping David de Gea away from Real Madrid this summer.

Onda Cero says De Gea's agent Jorge Mendes has been told by Real Madrid to make a move for De Gea.

But with Mendes lurking, United are happy to offer De Gea bigger wages to stay at Old Trafford.

United's intention to increase De Gea's current £200,000 a week deal would make at Old Trafford make the situation similar to the issue around Paul Pogba last summer, where Real were gazumped by United's superior salary offer.
