Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has explained why he doesn't venture to the touchline during games.
His low-key approach at home matches has become a talking point as he sits with his clipboard and pen.
But Van Gaal said: "I can't reach the players at Old Trafford because the crowd is very noisy.
"It is a miracle if they can hear me. I have to give a message to the player nearest to me and he has to tell the others.
"I prefer to wait until half-time to give my instructions but sometimes I do stand up. I did that recently to change the positions of Chris Smalling and Michael Carrick - but that was at Arsenal!"
