Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has twice rejected the Liverpool job.

That's according to football journalist Duncan Castles.

According to Castles, writing for Yahoo Sport!, Mourinho rejected the chance to manage Liverpool in 2015, shortly before he was axed by the Blues.

The Reds then opted for Jurgen Klopp after sacking then-boss Brendan Rodgers.

Castles adds that Liverpool also tried to land Mourinho in 2004 after Porto's Champions League win.

However, he opted to join Chelsea after his agent Jorge Mendes and Blues owner Roman Abramovich swayed him.
