REVEALED: Man Utd boss Mourinho made personal check on Russian ace Golovin

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is lining up a move for CSKA Moscow star Aleksandr Golovin after making a personal check this week.

The Sun says Mourinho was in Innsbruck on Wednesday night, reportedly watching West Ham's Marko Arnautovic inspire Austria's 1-0 win over Russia.

However, the true purpose of Mourinho's surprise trip to the Austrian Alps was to cast his eye over Golovin who turned 22 on the day of the game.

Mourinho is serious about his bid to lure Arnautovic away from the London Stadium but is well aware of the 29-year-old's qualities having managed him briefly at Inter Milan and admired his performances in the Premier League over many years.

His surprise trek to Innsbruck was to check out £15million-rated Golovin who could replace Juan Mata in the Reds' midfield next season.

Mata and Anthony Martial are set to become two of the big-name casualties at Old Trafford this summer as United look to freshen up their squad, with out-of-contract Marouane Fellaini also set to leave.
