Liverpool made a firm move for Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller last month, it has been revealed.
While Barcelona were pursuing Philippe Coutinho, BILD says the Reds were in contact with Bayern over a price for Muller.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp saw Muller as an ideal replacement for Coutinho, informing the Germany international he planned to play him as a deep-lying striker in his system.
However, at the time, Muller chose to resist the approach, insisting upon his commitment to Bayern.
But the player's thoughts have since changed after a difficult start to the season, with Muller admitting out loud he doesn't know where he stood in coach Carlo Ancelotti's plans.
