REVEALED: Liverpool had agreed Suarez fee with Real Madrid

Imminent Barcelona signing Luis Suarez could so easily have signed for Real Madrid last summer. The Liverpool striker is set to complete his £75 million move to Barca this week.

But Marca says Barca's great rivals Real Madrid agreed a £50m deal to sign Suarez last summer.

The deal for Suarez was all set to go through before Los Blancos decided to sign former Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

Club officials knew that they couldn't sign both Bale and Suarez in the same transfer window due to financial constraints and opted to pursue Bale, who they signed from Spurs for world record fee of £86m.
