Manchester United's pursuit of PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay is being questioned in Holland.

United are claimed to be favourites for Depay's signature, though Eindhoven Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink has a different take.

He told Studio 040: "Manchester United is. from my information, the least tangible option.

"It may be that another club comes in, but that will be a little late.

"It's not about whether clubs are willing to pay the amount. PSV know that several clubs are willing to pay the price. But the point is that Memphis wants to go.

"If I was him I would not reject the Liverpool path. A nice club for him because United is currently not a settled option."
