West Brom boss Tony Pulis has been assured his job is safe.
The Daily Star says the 58-year-old was branded a liar by a High Court judge on Monday and ordered to pay former club Crystal Palace £3.7m plus costs.
But Pulis has received a phone call from Guochuan Lai, who took control at The Hawthorns in September, assuring him that his position will not be affected by his defeat in court.
Now the wealthy consortium who bought out former chairman Jeremy Peace in a £175m deal are preparing to prove their support by backing him in the January transfer window.
Pulis has told friends he believes the original tribunal verdict over whether he should repay a £2m bonus for keeping Palace in the Premier League ignored some areas of evidence which supported his case.
