Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wanted to bring Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus to England this summer.
BILD says Guardiola made contact with Reus' camp towards the end of last season.
BVB caught wind of City's attempts and quickly moved to upgrade Reus' deal in March. The Germany international penned terms to 2023.
While flattered by City's approach, Reus was happy to ink a new contract extension with Dortmund.
What it does suggest, however, is Guardiola is in the market for a new attacking midfield signing this summer.
