REVEALED: FIFA scuppered Man Utd plans for Griezmann

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was left frustrated last year after their failure to sign Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

The Manchester Evening News says Mourinho wanted the signing of Griezmann back in 2017, shortly after steering the club to a EFL Cup and Europa League double.

United chief Ed Woodward was keen to deliver the signing of the Atletico Madrid star 18 months ago.

Yet Woodward chose not to pursue a deal after Atletico's year-long transfer ban was upheld by the Court of Arbitration.

Previously, it has been claimed United walked away because the price of the player was too high.

However, the report suggests that Woodward pulled out of a deal because of Griezmann's determination to remain in Spain.
