Erick Garcia is quitting Barcelona for Manchester City because of a "superior sporting project".

Garcia is regarded as the best defensive talent to come through the La Masia system since Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol.

However, Barca have lost the teen to City, with a source stating it wasn't City's money that tempted him away.

"They consider that his chance with City is greater than in the Azulgrana club where there are many players in his position," said the source.

"The sport project offered by the English club was better than Barcelona."

Barca have also lost Jordi Mboula to AS Monaco this month and are battling to keep Lee Seung-woo away from Borussia Dortmund.
