REVEALED: Emery 'has told Ozil to leave' Arsenal

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has encouraged Mesut Ozil to leave this month, it has been claimed.

The big problem is Ozil's £350,000-a-week wages, which cannot be justified for player who is not first-choice for the manager.

BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein says Emery had suggested to the German he "leave the club".

"I think that is mainly due to the financial interests of a player who makes £350,000 per week, but it is also related to the fact that he has not worked at a high level when he has played consistently," he said.

Özil has missed nine Premier League matches between injuries and tactical decisions this season.
