Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says Manchester United remain the benchmark.
Far from letting everyone bask in a famous win that could mark a shift in the English game, Mancini stressed that there remains much work to do before they can consider themselves equal to their nearest rivals.
"Manchester United remain a top team because they have been successful on a consistent basis," wrote the Italian in an email to all staff, which was published by the Daily Mail. "We must do the same. After yesterday's result I am sure there are a lot of happy people that have come into work for the club today. Everyone who supports Manchester City, either as a fan, employee or both should rightfully enjoy the moment.
"But at the same time we have to now concentrate on improving further, on continuing to build on what we have all achieved so far, and we can only do this if we immediately look forward to our next challenge."
