REVEALED: Chelsea DID make attempt for Swansea striker Fernando Llorente

Chelsea DID make an attempt for Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente last month.

The Daily Star says Antonio Conte had serious interest in bringing the Swansea hitman to Stamford Bridge.

Llorente, 31, was always considered as a back-up option to Diego Costa - and not a direct replacement.

Although there was interest in the Chelsea hitman from the Chinese Super League, owner Roman Abramovich had no intention of selling his main goal threat.

Talks were held with Llorente's camp and the striker was keen to link back up with Conte, who he played under at Juventus, according to sources close to the deal.

But the move fell through as Swansea weren't prepared to let him go.
