Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho slammed ref Phil Dowd after defeat at Tottenham, it has been revealed. The Mirror says Mourinho launched an astonishing rant at Dowd and shouted: "You're too fat to referee."

Witnesses to the amazing rant in the tunnel at Tottenham claim Mourinho "lost the plot" as he shouted furiously at Premier League referee Dowd after Chelsea's defeat on New Year's Day.

His rant at Dowd saw him question the referee's weight, as he shouted: "You're too fat to referee, you should retire" and then added: "You've cost us."

It is understood that Mourinho later went into Dowd's dressing room and the pair must have made peace because the incident was not in the referee's official report.
