Bordeaux was offered Arsenal icon Arsene Wenger after the sacking of Gus Poyet.

Bordeaux are expected to appoint Thierry Henry as new coach in the coming days.

However, Le Parisien says Wenger was offered to the French club by an intermediary - and Bordeaux's board were keen.

But Wenger was not across the actions of the agent and instead is in Liberia on invitation of George Weah.

Therefore any move for Wenger is now off, with Henry to now be confirmed as Poyet's successor.
