Ricki Lambert can play out his career at Southampton.
The Daily Mail says Lambert can stay at Southampton for the rest of his career under a gentleman's agreement when he signed his £40,000 a week contract.
The Southampton striker, who scored in Saturday's 4-3 victory over Burnley in the FA Cup third round, must play a part in at least half the club's matches to keep his side of the bargain.
In return, the England forward, who has a contract with Southampton until 2016, can stay on the same terms.
Provided he plays at least half of Saints' matches during the 2015/16 season he will be offered a year's extension at £40,000 a week. And so on each summer, until he hangs up his boots.
