Manchester United can sign free agent Victor Valdes on the cheap. Making the former Barcelona goalkeeper an even more attractive proposition is the news that AS Monaco are willing to subsidise his next contract.
Valdes has been training with United as he recovers from a knee injury suffered last season.
Marca reports Valdés has been locked in a dispute with the Principality club since they broke the pre-contract agreement signed early this year. An amicable settlement now seems to have been reached, with Monaco committing to make up the shortfall between the value of the deal Valdés agrees at his next club and what had originally been on the table at the Stade Louis II.
The 32-year-old had been set to pocket 10m a season on the French Riviera, in addition to a 20m signing-on fee.
