Return to form of veteran leads Perth to glory

A Jamie Harnwell double has given Perth Glory their second win of the season, accounting for Sydney FC at home. The 2-1 result has renewed hope within the Glory camp after it was said during the week that positive performances were required as soon as possible to get the season back on track. Veteran Harnwell scored in the 5th minute, with Sydney's Brendan Santalab equalising in the 12th before Harnwell got the visitors back in front just after half-time in a spiteful encounter that ended with Sydney's Iain Fyfe being ejected from the field just prior to full time. Sydney coach John Kosmina was disappointed with his team and said that the Glory wanted it more. Speaking to the league's official website, Kosmina said, "We defended that second goal really poorly, same as the first one. "Sometimes you've just got to do the dirty work and twice we've been found wanting against teams that are prepared to roll he sleeves up and have a bit of a dust up." The Glory now look to Round 9 where they will be out to gain further improvement against the in-form Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium whereas Sydney travel to Melbourne to take on the Victory in a crucial meeting at the Telstra Dome.
