Recently-retired referee Charlie Richmond has hit out at the Scottish Football Association after deciding to quit because he was not given Scottish Premier League games.
The Grade One match official retired on Saturday and has since delivered a stinging attack regarding the politics of the SFA and how you need to operate in the right circles to officiate in games in the top flight.
"It sounds terrible but I was looking for an opportunity (to quit).
"Apparently I don't suck up to the right people.
"Ability has to be there but if you move in the right circles you get the rewards.
"There will be people who walk over the top of others and people who say the right things to get to where they want.""My close friends and family know I've been unhappy for the last 18 months," he said.
And Richmond also added that he feels players don't respect referees because they don't get it in return.
"If you ask certain players if they respect refs they'll say no as they don't get respect from them," he added.
