Michael Reschke admits Bayern Munich had been following Barcelona's €150m signing Ousmane Dembele.

Reschke, now Stuttgart sports director, was with Bayern when Dembele was available from Rennes.

"Yes, we wanted to recruit Dembele. We did everything we could, but it was clear that the player only wanted Borussia Dortmund," he told BILD.

"He felt he was not ready for the big jump to Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

"He wanted time to play, but at the time we already knew he was a potential craque."
